As the cost of flying mounts has increased over the years, many players have been wondering if the cost of flying will become cheaper in the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.

Interestingly, it seems that the cost of flying may actually be going down in Wrath of the Lich King. In a recent interview, Lead Systems Designer Greg Street hinted that the developers are looking into making flying cheaper in the expansion:

We have plans to make flying cheaper in Wrath of the Lich King. We’re still trying to finalize everything, but it looks like it will cost less than it does currently to buy a flying mount and to train the riding skill.

This is great news for players who have been worried about the rising cost of flying in World of Warcraft. It's also worth noting that, in addition to making flying cheaper, the developers are also working on making it easier to obtain flying mounts in Wrath of the Lich King. In the same interview, Greg Street said:

Right now if you want a flying mount you pretty much have to do end-game raiding. We want to make it so that there are flying mounts available in the game world that players can go out and earn through questing or through PvE.

So, it looks like players who don't want to raid will still be able to get their hands on a flying mount in Wrath of the Lich King. Whether you're a raider or a casual player, it seems that you'll be able to enjoy the new expansion's flying content without breaking the bank.
