This is the common holy priest spec, and it works well with any gear setup.

2. Glyphs

Here are the most optimized glyphs for any situation.

Major Glyphs:

Glyph of Prayer of Healing

Glyph of Circle of Healing

Glyph of Flash Heal or Glyph of Guardian Spirit

Minor Glyphs:

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps, but here are the best gems.

Meta: Insightful Earthsiege Diamond

Red: Runed Cardinal Ruby

Blue: Purified Dreadstone

4. Professions

In WoTLK all professions are balanced, but the most useful professions for the Holy Priest are:

Jewelry – must need. 3 stones that give +117 SP.

Leatherworking - wrist enchant (+76 SP)

Alchemy - +46 SP from the potion

Enchantment - Rings enchant (+46 SP each)

Blacksmithing - 2 prismatic sockets for the gloves and wrist.

Inscription – Shoulder enchant +70 SP and 8 mana restore/5s

Tailoring – Cloak enchant +60 SP.

Here is a lot of enchants that can only be used while you have specific professions, so you can manage what you need, but here is a very popular enchant build.

7. Rotation

Holy spec has excellent ways out of all bad situations, but always keep an eye on your mana.

Raid healing rotation

Circle of Healing -> Prayer of Mending -> Prayer of Healing -> Binding Heal

Binding Heal costs a lot of mana, so use it wisely.

Tank healing rotation

Prayer of Mending -> Renew -> Binding Heal

When possible, instead of Binding Heal, you can use Flash Heal until you get two stacks of Serendipity.

When the tank is taking a lot of damage

If you have Serendipity cast Greater Heal, otherwise use Binding Heal. Afterwards revert back to the standard rotation.

Don’t forget about Guardian Spirit if things get scary.

Healing when you are Out of Mana

OOM Situations should be avoided as much as possible. As you become more experienced, they won’t happen as often. If you are OOM, use this rotation:

Guardian Spirit -> Prayer of Mending -> Renew

Spell power  - More - better.

Spirit (until you aren’t going oom during fights)

Haste - cap is 860-940.

Critical Strike - 20-26%

Mp5 - 1000 points.
